Semar pegulingan is a sweet-toned Balinese gamelan ensemble used in the Balinese courts before their dissolution. It is currently enjoying a resurgence of popularity in Bali, and there is one set of these interesting instruments in London.

This month Mel Green, who plays and teaches Balinese gamelan, talks a little about the gamelan semar pegulingan and the innovative new music being written for it today.
