In May 2008 three of Bali's most respected topeng artists are visiting the UK. During their visit they will be performing in Dartington with Lila Cita and giving practical topeng workshops in Dartington and Cardiff. (see further details below).

The artists are Ida Bagus Alit Widiyana (centre) with Ida Bagus Putu Wirabumi (left) and Ida Bagus Putu Parwita (right).

Margaret Coldiron introduces the artists and talks a little about the unique Balinese art of topeng and its role in Balinese life today.

Three-Day Workshop Programme
16th-18th May 2008

Dartington College of Arts, Totnes, Devon

A rare opportunity to learn the techniques of Balinese topeng masked drama. The workshops will include practical tuition led by Ida Bagus Alit and contextual learning sessions from UK-based practitioners including Margaret Coldiron and Ni Madé Pujawati.
