Music and dance for Balinese gamelan

Lila Cita (meaning 'amusement of the heart' or 'happiness') was founded in 1992 by Andy Channing.
Several of the group's members have studied in Bali and it is the only group in Britain that regularly performs a wide range of traditional Balinese music on gamelan gong keybar, gamelan semara dana and gamelan semar pegulingan. The group also plays gamelan angklung and gamelan beleganjur (processional gamelan).
In July 2006 Lila Cita performed at the prestigious Bali Arts Festival, together with Lila Bhawa, London's Balinese dance group.
They were the first groups from the UK to perform at the Festival and the first non-Balinese groups to perform with the traditional gamelan semar pegulingan.
The group has played throughout the UK and abroad including:
1997 - The Fondacion la Caixa in Barcelona (ensemble gong kebyar)
2000 - 'Island Hopping' Joint Concert with South Bank Gamelan Players,
Queen Elizabeth Hall, London (ensemble gong kebyar)
2002 - Queen's Golden Jubilee Procession, Royal Mile (ensemble baleganjur)
