'Bali Unmasked' - Margaret Coldiron talks about topeng - masked dance drama

In May 2008 three of Bali's most respected topeng artists are visiting the UK. During their visit they will be performing in Dartington with Lila Cita and giving practical topeng workshops in Dartington and Cardiff.

Balinese gamelan in London with Andy Channing

Over the past 20 years or so Andy Channing has been responsible for developing the teaching and playing of Balinese gamelan in London. He is also the founder and Artistic Director of Lila Cita, London's performing ensemble which, in 2006, played at the prestigious Bali Arts Festival.

Festive Gamelan Showcase

Southbank Centre houses a magnificent Javanese gamelan and classes have recently started there again after a break of two years. They are currently being run in conjunction with Morley College and include a beginners and intermediate group for adults and two classes for children and young people who are studying at the Centre for Young Musicians.

On 16th December 2007 we visited the Showcase event, an informal afternoon concert held on the Royal Festival Hall Ballroom floor, to mark the end of the autumn term.
